The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Children and Family in Mauritania, organized a two day consultative workshop on the comprehensive national-level reviews on the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action after 25 years.
Held on 25-26 March 2019 in Nouakchott, Mauritania, the two-day workshop brought together representatives of governmental institutions and non-governmental organizations to discuss the first draft of the national report and identify gaps in and sources of needed data and information. Participants also agreed on the next steps of the reporting process prior to the national review’s submission to ESCWA on the defined date.
This technical assistance is part of ESCWA's efforts to support Arab States in their preparations for national reviews on the progress made in the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action twenty-five years after its adoption. ESCWA, in partnership with UN Women and the League of Arab States, will be consolidating the 22 national reports into a regional one. The regional report will be presented during the upcoming 64th Session of the Committee on the Status of Women in March 2020 in New York.
