Policy Response to the Socio-Economic Impact of the Covid-19 Epidemic: Gender Equality

In light of the current difficult circumstances that have arisen due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), in partnership with the United Nations Development Programme Regional Bureau for Arab States (UNDP RBAS), the Arab States Regional Office of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the Regional Office for the Arab States of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-WOMEN), organized an online meeting for National Women Machineries in the Arab states.

The virtual meeting was held on  Thursday 23 April, from 10:30 – 13:00, and aimed to coordinate responses to the  impact of the Covid-19 pandemic and to  provide a platform for sharing good experiences  and  initiatives undertaken by governments to mitigate the impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic on women in terms of social protection, health protection, economic protection and the provision of services to women survivors of violence.
