Ms. Karima El Korri

Karima El Korri has worked in development for over 20 years, and is currently heading the 2030 Agenda and SDG Coordination Cluster at ESCWA.

She previously managed the ESCWA population and development portfolio, and pioneered the organization’s work on international migration, population ageing and youth empowerment.

Prior to joining ESCWA in 2012, Karima served as a regional advisor and project coordinator at the United Nations Development Programme, focusing on parliamentary strengthening and advancing participatory governance in Arab countries.

Before joining the United Nations in 2004, she was a lecturer at the Al-Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. She then worked at Maroc 2020, a think tank engaging with Government, civil society, the private sector, academia, young people and international organizations to develop the Morocco Vision 2020.

She holds an MA in Applied Linguistics from Teachers College, Columbia University, and a BA in English from Mohammed V University in Rabat.
