ESCWA country brief - 2013

This set of country briefs presents the socioeconomic, political and developmental challenges facing three countries in transition, namely Libya, Tunisia and Yemen. It reviews the causes of economic grievances and vulnerability in those countries; it also highlights the role of civil society in transitions, shedding light on women’s rights and stressing the importance of participatory politics. A way forward towards a successful transition is finally highlighted for each of the three countries.
