Global Forecasts and Predictions for the ESCWA Region: The Roles of Investment and Public Expenditure in Economic Growth, Issue No. 2
January 2005
In an effort to reverse the unsatisfactory trend of development performance witnessed in the ESCWA region during the past two decades, it is necessary to identify the factors that contribute to raising the level of growth, which can help decision-makers in developing appropriate economic policies in order to stimulate growth.
The applied part is based on designing an auto-regressive time series model to determine the contributions of investment, public expenditure, revenue and oil exports, and forecast its proportion to GDP growth. It also provides a summary of the recommended economic policies of member countries.
