Role of women in peacebuilding processes

January 2017

The policy brief examines the participation of women in peace building processes in several Arab countries. It presents some key arguments supporting women’s participation in peace building processes and provides evidence to its impact on related outcomes. The brief also discusses the different shapes peace processes could take and explores avenues for women’s participation in them and options to maximize their influence, with reference to some cases of good practices from the region. The brief suggests a range of policy-oriented recommendations to support women’s participation in peace processes.
