The 2019 Situation Report on International Migration in the Arab Region describes the main trends and patterns in international migration in the Arab region from 2017 to 2019, provides a summary of important developments in migration governance in Arab countries in the last two years, and delves into the policy implications of the Global Compact for Safe, Orderly and Regular Migration (GCM) in the context of the Arab region.

The report scrutinizes three selected priority areas of migration management in the Arab countries, namely the access of migrants to basic services, vulnerabilities in migration, and the issue of smuggling and trafficking of migrants. It showcases policies and programs adopted across the region and presents a benchmark for integrated and holistic migration management in the selected priority areas. It also aims to fill the knowledge gap identified in the first objective of the GCM and thus contribute to data-based policy making on migration in the region.
