Term:
Integrated pest management (IPM)
Definition:

Is an approach to the management and control of agricultural pests which relies on site- and condition-specific information to manage pest populations below a level that causes economic injury and that minimizes risks to humans and the natural environment. Although any among a wide range of pest control agents may be used (including chemical sprays), IPM generally stresses the use of alternatives, such as crop rotations, mechanical cultivation, and biological agents, where such methods are deemed to be effective.
