Long position
Definition:
The net ownership position in a particular security e.g. if you own 500 shares of stock of a company you are said to be long 500 shares of that stock. The Bank definition is (1) in relation to securities, any security owned by the Bank and (2) in relation to futures and option contracts, any such contract purchased by the Bank which has not expired, been exercised by a seller or canceled through the sale of such contract by the Bank.
