The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is organizing a three days Regional Training Workshop on Capacity Development for Climate Change Negotiations for the Arab Countries. The Workshop that is convened in collaboration with the League of Arab States (LAS) will be held in Amman during the period 26-28 May 2014 aims at developing a better understanding of the climate change policy framework and relevant factors contributing to successful negotiations on climate change, building links between the future generation of climate change negotiators from Arab countries to facilitate improved coordination and the development of common positions. It will address challenges recently facing by climate change negotiators in making progress towards new agreements, based on the "Guide on Climate Change Negotiations for Representatives and Negotiators from Arab Countries". This workshop is the second in a series of workshops on building the capacity of Arab countries on climate change negotiations. The first workshop, held during the period 22-24 October 2013 and hosted by ESCWA Technology Center (ETC) in Amman, contributed to enhanced knowledge and strengthened capacity representatives and negotiators from Arab countries to adequately address issues related to climate change and the respective national concerns for mitigation and adaptation actions for upcoming future negotiation processes on climate change.
