ESCWA, in partnership with Egypt’s Ministry of Social Solidarity and the Sawiris Foundation for Social Development (SFSD), hosts a dynamic multi-country peer exchange to highlight the “Bab Amal” program—a leading model for economic empowerment and sustainable pathways out of extreme poverty.
Delegations from Jordan, Djibouti, and Somalia gather to experience the Bab Amal approach firsthand in Upper Egypt. The program demonstrates effective strategies for identifying beneficiaries, providing productive asset transfers, delivering coaching and training, and promoting financial inclusion.
Over the course of five days, participants actively engage in interactive knowledge-sharing sessions, visit beneficiary households and community committees, and participate in collaborative discussions on adapting the Bab Amal model to their national contexts.
This event forms a vital part of a broader initiative—funded by SFSD—focused on effective, efficient poverty reduction management in Egypt and selected Arab countries.
