Each year, from November 25 to December 10, the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign calls on communities to stand together in the fight to end violence against women and girls. This year’s theme, “Ending Violence against Women and Girls: We Are All a Piece of the Puzzle,” highlights the power of collective action. ESCWA is joining forces with the Arab Institute for Women at the Lebanese American University, as well as key UN partners in the Arab region - UN Women, United Nations Population Fund and World Health Organization through the Issue-based Coalition to End Violence against Women and Girls - to amplify the shared commitment to this cause.
No single organization or individual can eliminate gender-based violence alone. Creating real and lasting change demands a survivor-centered approach that is holistic, coordinated, and multi-dimensional, one that brings together diverse voices, services, and expertise. This year, the 16 Days of Activism campaign shines a light on the dedicated service providers and institutions across the Arab region, recognizing them as essential pieces in the puzzle of support and healing.
