As demand for critical raw materials and energy transition minerals grows, resource-rich countries have an opportunity to create sustainable value, provided that mineral development is supported by effective governance, environmental stewardship and long-term resource management.
The event explores how mineral-producing and processing countries can move beyond extraction by strengthening value addition, promoting inclusive development and applying circular economy approaches across mineral value chains. It is organized by ESCWA, the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe, the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the Economic Commission for Africa, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean and UN-Energy, with support from the International Society for Energy Transition Studies.
