Held during Oman Climate Week (14-16 September 2026), this twentieth regional training workshop brings together Arab climate negotiators to take stock of recent developments in the UNFCCC process, prepare for upcoming negotiation priorities, and engage with the Regional Workshop on Regional Climate Modeling Applications in the Arab Region, held back-to-back on 15 and 16 September. It is organized by ESCWA in cooperation with the League of Arab States and in collaboration with the Government of Oman.
Discussions review the outcomes of COP30 in Belém, Brazil, and the Bonn Climate Change Conference, with a focus on key issues for the Arab region, including climate finance, the global stocktake, mitigation, adaptation, loss and damage, Article 6 and capacity-building. The workshop also aims to strengthen the technical knowledge and engagement of youth negotiators, while reviewing the current status of Arab countries’ Nationally Determined Contributions and Biennial Transparency Reports.
A dedicated focus is placed on regional and international initiatives to mobilize climate finance, improve access to international public funding and scale up financial flows for sustainable development and climate action in the Arab region.
