The Committee provides a unique regional intergovernmental forum that reviews, monitors and advances Arab financing for development outcomes and supports the implementation of the 2030 Agenda on Sustainable Development in the Arab region.

It is holding its second session in Cairo, on 8 and 9 December 2021 and will discuss financing for development challenges, including public debt and debt sustainability, tax revenue leakages, and tax challenges arising from the digital economy. It will also hold a round-table discussion on the main recommendations of the UN High-level Panel on International Financial Accountability, Transparency and Financial Integrity. In addition, the Committee will discuss climate finance needs and flows and the ESCWA Initiative on Debt Swaps for Climate and SDG Finance in the Arab region. Finally, the Committee will hold a workshop on SDG costing and financing frameworks and simulators, and discuss an Arab financing for development framework that can constitute a road map for the next couple of years.
