The sixth session of the Committee on Technology for Development provides a platform for member States to review progress in technology-related activities undertaken by Arab countries and the ESCWA secretariat since the fifth session, held in Amman on 26 and 27 February 2025.
The session reviews the implementation of the Committee’s recommendations, technical cooperation activities for 2025 and 2026, and the activities of the ESCWA Technology Centre. It also addresses government digital transformation in the Arab region and the maturity of digital government services, efforts to bridge digital divides through the ESCWA template for national digital inclusion policies, and readiness and governance for emerging technologies. Other topics include the use of AI agents in digital services and the ESCWA–League of Arab States framework for artificial intelligence governance.
The session also features a round-table discussion on the “Arab Digital Agenda: the next decade”.
