ESCWA, in partnership with UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD), is convening a regional webinar on “Consumer Product Safety in the Arab Region” to advance consumer protection across the region.
Drawing on ESCWA’s regional study, “Product Safety in Digital and Cross-Border Commerce in the Arab Region: Legal Gaps, Operational Evidence and Reform Priorities,” the webinar explores practical ways to protect consumers from unsafe products, particularly in digital and cross-border markets.
Discussions align regional priorities with the United Nations Principles for Consumer Product Safety and related global guidance. They aim to identify priorities for national action, technical capacity-building and stronger regional cooperation.
The event brings together Arab consumer protection authorities and experts from international and regional organizations to exchange experience on digital-market responsibilities, market surveillance, trader and product traceability, recalls, consumer remedies, information exchange and cross-border enforcement.
