The United Nations Statistics Division, in partnership with ESCWA, the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries, the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics, and the International Energy Agency, is organizing a workshop aimed at enhancing national capacities in developing integrated energy statistics programmes.
The workshop focuses on foundational concepts in energy statistics, the relationship between energy balances and the System of Environmental-Economic Accounting for Energy (SEEA-Energy) accounts, and the establishment of national coordination mechanisms to facilitate stakeholder collaboration and avoid duplication of efforts. It enables participants to gain hands-on experience in applying energy data to policy development, while also benefiting from the exchange of country experiences and best practices.
