This preparatory meeting is co-organized by ESCWA and the Executive Bureau of the Council of Ministers of Labor and Social Affairs of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC). It aims to support GCC countries in their preparations for the 2nd World Summit on Social Development that will take place in Doha – Qatar from 4 to 6 November 2025, and to enhance their participation in preparatory processes at national, regional and global levels.
The meeting builds on substantive global and regional input on the state of social development in the region and the GCC, and on associated policy trends and lessons. It concludes with a set of key messages to mobilize GCC countries ministries in support of the Arab position paper and GCC priorities for the Summit.
