ESCWA and the Statistical Center for the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC-Stat) are organizing this specialized regional workshop to advance gender statistics across GCC countries. The workshop aims to promote knowledge exchange and regional cooperation while strengthening national capacities to collect, analyze, and disseminate sex-disaggregated data in line with international standards.
Participants work toward harmonizing concepts, methodologies, and data; establishing a unified GCC gender statistics database and common data-transmission tables; and producing high-quality, comparable statistics. These efforts support evidence-based policymaking and monitoring of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals. The workshop also develops a roadmap for an annual gender statistics report, paving the way for a GCC Gender Observatory.
