“How do you envision the future of women’s rights in the Arab region and what encourages you to be part of it?”

A question ESCWA is addressing to four female activists from different backgrounds in Lebanon, Libya, Palestine and Somalia, in celebration of International Women’s Day 2025.

This year's theme is For ALL women and girls: Rights. Equality. Empowerment: Despite all the challenges in the Arab region, there is a stong commitment to defy all obstacles and uphold the rights of women and girls.

 

Outcome document

The women featured voice their strength, resilience, creativity and hope, and are working through awareness raising, art, activism, education and empowerment to ensure that women and girls in the Arab region are able to exercise their full human rights in a stable and thriving environment. 

Four different carousels of the women and their responses were designed and posted to social media for International Women’s Day.
