ESCWA, in cooperation with the United Nations Statistics Division and the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics, are organizing the Regional Virtual Workshop on Modernising Statistical Legislation and Statistical Systems.
The workshop aims to strengthen understanding of the role of modern statistical legislation in supporting the modernization and transformation of national statistical systems in a changing data ecosystem. It seeks to enhance knowledge of key legal components, including professional independence, institutional coordination, and data governance, and discuss how frameworks can support the responsible use of administrative, big, and alternative data sources. In addition, the workshop explores the implications of digital transformation, AI governance, and secure data exchange, while promoting the exchange of regional experiences and identifying practical actions to support statistical transformation in the Arab region.
