ESCWA, in partnership with the League of Arab States, is organizing a workshop on multidimensional poverty in the Arab region, designed for representatives from the ministries of social affairs across Arab States.
The workshop begins with an overview of poverty and human development trends in Arab States. Participants are presented with the key findings from the Third Arab Multidimensional Poverty Report, with a dedicated focus on effective poverty reduction policies. Member States have the opportunity to showcase their experiences in utilizing the Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI) for policy development and targeted interventions to support vulnerable populations.
A highlight of the workshop is an interactive training session on ESCWA’s advanced tools for multidimensional poverty analysis. This session covers essential policymaking instruments for diagnostics, visualization, and simulation, equipping participants with practical skills for evidence-based decision-making. Additionally, the program features a dedicated segment on the Arab Poverty Center, outlining its mission, objectives, and ongoing initiatives to combat poverty in the region.
