Marking a significant step towards data-driven social protection policymaking in Egypt, ESCWA, in close collaboration with the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt (MoSS) and with funding from the Sawiris Foundation for Sustainable Development (SFSD), carried out a technical mission from 4 to 7 May to deliver and institutionalize the Country-Driven Social Protection Optimization Toolbox (CD-SPOT v2.0) analytical tool within the ministry.
During the four-day mission, ESCWA experts installed the CD-SPOT v2.0 dashboard on six ministry computers supporting the Takaful and Karama programme and conducted hands-on training sessions to strengthen staff capacity in beneficiary targeting, policy simulation, and data analysis.
Developed by ESCWA, the CD-SPOT v2.0 uses machine-learning algorithms and household-level data to support evidence-based policy decisions through a user-friendly interface that enables the assessment of different policy scenarios.
