The anticipated impact of artificial intelligence (AI) on sustainable development is undeniable, as it holds transformative potential across various sectors, including health, education, and transport. Globally, numerous initiatives and frameworks are being developed to leverage AI for advancing development.
Within the context of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2024) held in Riyadh, ESCWA organized on 15 December a session titled “AI Governance in the Arab region: Challenges and Perspectives”.
Participants discussed the main challenges of AI governance, as well as best practices for fostering responsible and trustworthy AI development and use. They also highlighted several relevant initiatives.
