From 28 to 30 June, ESCWA, the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS), organized a training workshop on “demographic methods for assessing the quality and completeness of civil registration data and their utilizations”.
The workshop, held in Amman, Jordan, enhanced the statistical capacities of participants, providing them with concepts and methodologies to produce demographic indicators based on civil registration data. It also trained participants from countries undergoing political or humanitarian crises on using alternative methods to make demographic estimations.
The workshop is part of the civil registration and vital statistics systems (CRVS) strategic framework, developed to improve and update civil registration systems.
