To advance the modernization statistical systems in the Arab region, ESCWA, in partnership with the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and the GCC Statistical Centre (GCC-Stat), organized a regional webinar on assessing countries’ readiness to use administrative data for population and housing census.
Participants were introduced to the Self-Assessment Tool on Readiness to Use Administrative Data for Census (SATRAC), earned from practical examples from Indonesia and the Maldives, and exchanged experiences on institutional and technical readiness to support register-based censuses.
Held on 28 January, the webinar was attended by census experts and specialists from national statistical offices, as well as representatives of government institutions responsible for managing key administrative records related to population statistics.
