Beirut, 10 January 2020-- The Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) launched today in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre in Beirut (UNIC Beirut) a “Visual Arts Competition on Sustainable Development in the Arab region”. Professionals and amateur photographers and artists with different backgrounds and levels of experience are invited to participate in this competition by submitting their photographs (maximum of 10 photos), or videos and infographics/animation (maximum of two), which illustrate one or more of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals and how individuals can contribute to the achievement of these Goals.

Deadline for submitting materials is Saturday, 29 February 2020. Winners will be invited to attend the Arab Forum on Sustainable Development (AFSD) to be held in spring 2020, during which their work will be displayed.
