From 9 to 11 February, ESCWA held a meeting in Nouakchott with the Mauritanian Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee to develop a national programme for a climate/SDGs debt swap in the country.
Participants discussed debt servicing, climate/SDGs debt swaps mechanisms, reviewed the country’s climate and socioeconomic vulnerabilities, and deepened their understanding of national sectoral strategies to help identify priority projects for inclusion in the national programme.
ESCWA also held bilateral consultations with key stakeholders, with whom an agreement was reached on a roadmap for project analysis, programme proposal development, and next steps for implementation.
