On 28 July, ESCWA held a technical meeting in Nouakchott to advance a programme proposal supporting the Government of Mauritania in developing a national Climate/SDGs Debt Swap Programme to mobilize resources for sustainable development projects aligned with national priorities.
The meeting reviewed and prioritized the project pipeline, refined key performance indicators and addressed remaining technical elements. It brought together members of the Inter-Ministerial Technical Committee and representatives of the UN Resident Coordinator’s Office in Mauritania.
The meeting contributes to the implementation of the Sevilla Commitment by promoting debt-for-development swaps as an innovative tool to expand fiscal space and finance sustainable development.
