Recognizing the power of academic cooperation to inform policy and drive inclusive, sustainable development across the Arab region, ESCWA participated in the 5th meeting of the Academic Network for Development Dialogue (ANDD) held in Muscat from 5 to 7 May and hosted by Sultan Qaboos University.
Participants discussed ways to improve sustainable research systems in Arab universities to strengthen the link between academia and public policy. ESCWA, being part of ANDD, provided a training workshop focusing on the importance of achieving impact through evidence-based policies, and showcasing tools to translate academic research into actionable policy recommendations.
The meeting also featured the presentation and review of 12 research papers submitted under the ANDD's latest call for proposals, focusing on promoting human well-being and strengthening capabilities to accelerate sustainable development in the region.
