Given the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) in enhancing various sectors and its increasing impact on the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals, ESCWA participated in the First Regional Conference on Artificial Intelligence, organized by the Arab Internet and Telecom Union (ARISPA) in partnership with the Syrian Computer Society and the Syrian Ministry of Communications and Information Technology.
ESCWA discussed AI investment strategies that support economic development in the Arab region, explored the intersection of AI and entrepreneurship with a particular focus on e-commerce, and addressed key issues related to cybersecurity and AI.
Held on 6 and 7 May, in Damascus, Syria, the conference brought together a wide range of experts, policymakers, entrepreneurs and representatives from international and regional organizations across the Arab region.
