On 27 October, ESCWA participated in the Gulf Water Stewardship Leaders’ Forum organized by Nestlé, the Alliance for Water Stewardship and the Emirates Environmental Group to discuss the global and regional challenges of sustainable water resource management.
ESCWA highlighted the degree of water stress and climate change affecting the Arab region, and the importance of groundwater and desalination for complementing the water budget in the Gulf region.
ESCWA also stressed the need to accelerate work on data production and capacity development, and to improve governance and increase financing to reach water-related goals.
