To enhance regional cooperation among member States in implementing the programmes of ESCWA in the field of energy, the Committee on Energy held its 14th session on 21 and 22 June at the UN House in Beirut.
Member State representatives discussed the role of minerals and critical raw materials in the region’s transition to clean energy, and the use of blockchain technology to facilitate this process. Discussions also addressed potential hydrogen developments, and progress in achieving the energy-related Sustainable Development Goal (SDG 7) in the region.
In addition, the Committee issued a series of recommendations to improve the 2024 programme plan for energy.
