On 29 September, ESCWA organized a special event to celebrate translators on International Translation Day. Language professionals, content creators, academics and students gathered to share the shocks and mishaps they encounter in the world of words.
ESCWA gives great importance to translation, a profession which bridges cross cultural and linguistic barriers and contributes to promoting peace and security in the world.
On 24 May 2017, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring 30 September International Translation Day, in a bid to recognize the role of professional translators in connecting nations.
