Beirut, 31 January 2019 (Communication and Information Unit)--The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is launching a photo competition to capture sustainable development initiatives across Arab countries and highlight the region’s efforts to reach the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), adopted universally in 2015.

Both amateur and professional photographers of any Arab nationality are invited to participate by submitting up to 20 photos related to one or more of the 17 SDGs. The photo(s) should tell a story about development achievements or challenges, with the option of illustrating what communities are doing or should do to ensure the goals are reached by the deadline in 2030.  Click here to download the TOR.

About the Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals are the blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all. They address the global challenges we face, including those related to poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, and peace and justice. In order to leave no one behind, it is important that we achieve each Goal and target by 2030.
