On 31 October, ESCWA sponsored the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between Egypt and Djibouti to support the implementation of a population census in Djibouti.
Under the MoU, Egypt will provide Djibouti with technical, administrative and logistical expertise to advance statistical work. This would enhance the data system used for planning and development purposes, and for administrative decision-making.
ESCWA Executive Secretary Rola Dashti praised the completion of the initiative, which she said would set an example for further bilateral and collective cooperation among member States.
