On 27 October, ESCWA and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion in Oman held a workshop to review an upcoming market study of the Sultanate’s building materials sector and its impact on competition.
Omani officials from the Competition and Anti-Monopoly Center, the Ministry and other government entities learned more about market study methodologies and practical tools to analyse market structure, assess competition dynamics, and formulate evidence-based policy recommendations for more competitive and resilient markets.
The workshop also gathered direct inputs from stakeholders to support the development of actionable recommendations and a clear roadmap for the upcoming stages, contributing to proactive policies that enhance the efficiency and competitiveness of Oman’s building materials sector.
