Youth make up more than half of the Arab region’s population, with over 50% under the age of 24, underscoring the vital need for their meaningful engagement in decision-making processes. Against this backdrop, ESCWA held a session on 25 June titled “Gen Z: Effective Inclusion and Participation in Decision-Making,” as part of its Insight Series, which aims to deepen collective understanding of key issues shaping the Arab region.
The session explored how to empower Generation Z to actively contribute to shaping the future, focusing on what meaningful participation entails in practice and how organizations, including the United Nations, can foster more inclusive intergenerational dialogue and leadership.
Several young participants shared their personal experiences in decision-making, shedding light on the challenges they face and the opportunities that can enhance their genuine inclusion.
