To build a more resilient social protection system that supports the most vulnerable and aligns with national development goals, the Ministry of Social Solidarity in Egypt, in partnership with ESCWA, launched on 21 December the report “Social Protection Landscape and Perspectives: Comprehensive National Review of the System and Reforms of Egypt, Edition 1.”
Authored by the Ministry with technical support from ESCWA, the report draws on foundational research conducted by the Economic Policy Research Institute (EPRI) and is funded by the Ford Foundation. It provides a comprehensive overview of the current social protection system in Egypt and its main programmes, identifies key reform priorities, and outlines policy options to improve coverage, efficiency, and sustainability.
The launch brought together forty-five representatives from key government entities, international organizations, and national institutions.
