Given the importance of technology as a key driver for sustainable recovery, ESCWA held a regional workshop at the UN House in Beirut on 4 and 5 November, titled “Leveraging Technology to Reduce the Generational Impact of Conflict: Practical Options for Strengthened Resilience of Affected Populations”.
The workshop brought together policymakers, technical experts, academics, as well as UN agencies and civil society representatives from across the Arab region. They explored how emerging technologies can mitigate the long-term impacts of conflicts, discussed new frameworks to address complex and multi-generational challenges, and examined how digital tools can support governance reform, infrastructure rebuilding, economic recovery, and access to education in fragile settings.
Discussions also focused on the humanitarian needs in Gaza and how technology can contribute to reconstruction and economic recovery.
