Just ahead of the 2025 High-level Political Forum (HLPF), and as part of the fourth edition of the Voluntary Local and Subnational Review (VLR/VSR) series, ESCWA, in collaboration with UN-Habitat and UN DESA, organized a high-level session on 10 and 11 July to explore how VLRs and VSRs can drive real policy impact.
Moving beyond reporting, the session showcased how local and subnational governments were translating review findings into concrete actions through strategic planning, institutionalization, and investment alignment.
It also featured practical case studies, addressed implementation challenges, and proposed strategies to ensure that VLRs and VSRs lead to measurable results, enhanced governance, and sustained development outcomes.
