On the sidelines of the High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) in New York, ESCWA and the other United Nations regional commissions organized a plenary session titled “Regional Perspectives on SDG Implementation”, which showcased lessons learned from different regions in implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The session highlighted both common and unique regional challenges and opportunities. It discussed strategies to mobilize regional action and leverage regional frameworks to support countries in ensuring effective follow-up to the Summit of the Future for SDG achievement.
Concrete examples of initiatives launched by the regional commissions and their partners were also presented, with a focus on innovative financing mechanisms and best practices.
