Model ESCWA 2026 concluded on 29 June at the UN House in Beirut with a closing session marking the end of an interactive programme that brought together students from two Lebanese universities to explore regional and global development challenges through policy dialogue and negotiation.
Jointly organized by ESCWA, the American University of Beirut (AUB), and Saint Joseph University (USJ), Model ESCWA introduced students to the work of ESCWA, the United Nations system, and regional intergovernmental processes. Throughout the programme, participants assumed the roles of representatives of Arab member States and regional and international organizations, engaging in policy discussions and drafting resolutions on issues affecting the Arab region.
The programme aims to strengthen leadership, diplomacy, negotiation, and public speaking skills of young people, while promoting evidence-based policymaking, regional cooperation, and a deeper understanding of the region's development priorities.
