Artificial intelligence (AI) could be a powerful enabler of sustainable development, given its potential to drive significant transformation across national economies and key sectors. A comprehensive national AI strategy is therefore essential to guide the responsible and inclusive integration of AI into sustainable development policies and programmes.
On 14 October, ESCWA organized a hybrid workshop in collaboration with the General Information Authority (GIA) in Libya to support the development of the country’s national AI strategy. The workshop highlighted the key impacts of AI, showcased examples of national AI strategies, and facilitated discussions on the current draft strategy, aiming to refine it for official adoption.
Participants included representatives from public institutions involved in the development and implementation of digital projects and initiatives.
