In Tunis, the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), ESCWA and their partners held the Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) Regional Forum, from 23 to 25 September, to help countries shape and strengthen their next round of national climate plans, known as NDCs.
ESCWA stressed that the Arab region is getting hotter, faster than the global average, and urged Arab countries to better articulate the costing of climate projects in NDCs and related planning documents to mobilize the finance needed to act.
The Forum was convened by UNEP, ESCWA, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the NDC Partnership, in collaboration with the UNFCCC Secretariat as well as the UN Food Systems Coordination Hub and the UNEP-convened Climate and Clean Air Coalition.
