As part of the ongoing preparations for the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2) in November, ESCWA, in partnership with the United Nations Research Institute for Social Development (UNRISD), organized a virtual event on the sidelines of the High-level Political Forum (HLPF), under the title: “On the Road to the Second World Summit for Social Development: Evidence-based Regional Perspectives”.
During the event, which was held on 17 July, experts from various sectors and regions shared key findings of regional consultations and explored commonalities and divergences in the progress and challenges of advancing social development.
Additionally, the event provided space for reflection on the next steps for civil society and academia to contribute to an ambitious and impactful WSSD2, be it at the implementation level or during the follow-up process.
