Blockchain technology can help harness the region's wide variety of natural resources, and accelerate the integration of renewable energy while increasing access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services.
In this context, ESCWA organized on 20 September a meeting on the role of blockchain in the Arab region’s transition to sustainable energy. Discussions shed light on promising case studies, and identified key barriers and pathways to blockchain adoption within the region.
The meeting comes as part of a project undertaken by ESCWA on the role of blockchain as an emerging digital technology in accelerating progress on sustainable energy development in the region.
