During the International Road Federation (IRF) World Congress 2024, ESCWA and the IRF launched the “Safe and Inclusive Road Design in North and West Africa” project, funded by the United Nations Road Safety Fund (UNRSF).
In line with the recommendations of the Global Plan for the Decade of Action for Road Safety 2021-2030, the project aims to support African countries, including Mauritania, Morocco, and Senegal in reviewing road geometric design standards, manuals, and guidelines.
The project ensures that roads are designed to provide adequate levels of safety and accessibility for all road users.
