Safeguarding statistical data during crises is key to ensure evidence-based policymaking and effective humanitarian response. In such circumstances, National Statistical Systems (NSSs) face increasing risks, including operational disruptions, infrastructure damage, and cyber threats, making it imperative to strengthen their resilience and sustainability.
In this context, ESCWA, in collaboration with the Statistical, Economic and Social Research and Training Centre for Islamic Countries (SESRIC), the Arab Institute for Training and Research in Statistics (AITRS), and the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), organized an online workshop titled “Safeguarding Data in Crises”, on 22 and 23 October.
The workshop served as a platform to exchange best practices and innovative solutions in protecting statistical data and infrastructure in times of crisis, thereby strengthening the NSSs resilience of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation member countries.
